Want To Get Glowing Skin And Have Tons Of Energy?!

Don’t we all want enough energy to go after our goals, hit an exercise class, and hang with our friends after a full day of living it up? Don’t we want to feel amazing and have beachy, glowing skin?

These are my foremost goals right now: more energy, feel amazing, and get my skin to glow. Somewhere over the course of the previous year, I took a job that has me traveling all over the place, at the same time I’m still coaching clients, teaching yoga and meditation and speaking to college students on campuses around the US.

This lifestyle is fast, fulfilling and exciting. But, it’s not so great for my body. I’ve started having digestive problems, my skin looks like a pubescent 13 year old, and I’m walking around in a mental fog a lot of the time. During my time as Health Editor for CBS News, I learned a lot about how our diet can affect all of these things, and when we remove certain foods from our diet like processed food, sugar, dairy and alcohol, our bodies have a chance to heal.

Yesterday, I began a 30 day diet based off of the book The Paleo Cure by Chris Kresser. It’s pretty strict, so I’ve had to rethink and retool a lot of my habitual foods and meals already.

Here are the rules: For thirty days you can eat as much organic meat, vegetables and good fats (avocado, coconut oil) that you want. Fruit can be eaten in moderation. Grains, legumes (beans), dairy, sugar, and alcohol are off limits.

To hold myself accountable and to support you on this journey, should you accept my invitation to join me, I’m going to post the meals that I eat and some recipes for you to try out. Even if you decide not to do the full cleanse, I invite you to try some of the recipes I’m going to share. They are jam-packed with vital nutrients and minerals and will aide in delivering you to your healthiest self.

As always, there’s no better time to start than right now. So here we go!

For breakfast I typically eat eggs, toast and avocado, but now I have to adjust.

This morning I made a green smoothie in the vitamix blender and a couple hours later, I enjoyed my new favorite thing: superfood cereal.

Green Smoothie: four leaves romaine lettuce, 1/2 green apple, 1/4 fresh jalapeño, 5 stalks cilantro, coconut water

Superfood cereal: 1 tbsp chia seeds, 3 tbsp hemp hearts, 4 tbsp cacao nibs, handful raisins, blackberries, raspberries, coconut flakes, 1/4 cup Zenola paleo granola, almond milk
